The King’s Awards for Enterprise 2027
Apply with expert help from Boost Awards
The King’s Awards for Enterprise 2027 are the UK’s most prestigious business awards, recognising excellence in innovation, international trade, sustainable development, and social impact. For 2027 there is also a new category for young entrepreneurs (aged 18-30).
Winning is a powerful commercial advantage: but the application process is highly competitive, detailed, and evidence-heavy. From our experience it can take anything from 50 to 100 hours to complete the entry; possibly more if you’re new to awards.
At Boost Awards – the world’s first and largest award entry consultancy – we help organisations apply for and win the King’s Awards for Enterprise with structured, high-impact applications designed to stand out. We are far and away the most experienced independent organisation providing help in entering and winning the King’s Awards for Enterprise, having written 57 winning King’s Awards entries for our clients.
Ready to apply for the King’s Awards for enterprise 2027?
If you’re planning to enter the King’s Awards for Enterprise 2027, preparation should begin early. Successful applications require clear strategy, strong evidence, and precise alignment with judging criteria.
We will help you turn your business achievements into a compelling submission which directly provides what judges are looking for.
What we do:
- We undertake an eligibility call to understand your story and select the most appropriate category: we then draft an entry which clearly addresses the award criteria while also telling an engaging story.
- We identify and gather evidence required to prove excellence or innovation (this may include running surveys).
- We put together supporting material (including graphs, images, testimonials etc).
Want expert help with your application?
If you’re still in the early stages of contemplating an application and need some guidance about your chances of winning – or if you aren’t sure whether you’re eligible to enter – contact our team today and they’ll be happy to have a no-obligation chat. Our unrivalled experience also means that if we think you aren’t eligible, or aren’t ready yet, we’ll be honest and tell you so.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise categories
You can apply under one or more of the following categories:
Innovation
For organisations delivering breakthrough products, services, or processes with proven commercial success.
International Trade
For sustained growth and success in overseas markets.
Sustainable Development
For combining commercial success with environmental and social impact.
Promoting Opportunity
For creating social mobility through employment and opportunity.
‘Nearly two-thirds of all King’s Awards go to international trade – making it by far the most competitive and dominant category.’
As mentioned, the new 2027 category for young entrepreneurs aged 18–30 will give entrepreneurs a chance to showcase their work and win a prestigious award.
Choosing the right category is critical
Many strong applications fail simply because they’re either positioned in the wrong category or fail to emphasise the right evidence. It’s vitally important to check your eligibility before embarking on the awards journey, and our eligibility call can help with this. We will be completely honest with your chances in each category, and can then help with the entry writing should you wish to proceed.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise eligibility
To apply for the King’s Award for Enterprise, your organisation must meet the following criteria:
- Innovation: You have an innovation which can be defined as an invention, design or production of goods, performance of services, marketing and distribution or after-sales support of goods or services. Whichever it is, you need to ensure it has been available on the market for at least two years. Companies which have invented and manufactured a physical product tend to do better in this category. However, those with service innovation can (and do) still win if able to concretely prove they are innovative.
- International trade: You lead your sector in exporting goods or services overseas, and have had three financial years of outstanding overall financial performance and growth in exports, or six financial years of strong continual growth. You must have made a minimum of £100,000 in overseas sales in the first year of your entry, and show year-on-year growth. (N.B: The majority of last year’s winners were for this category.)
- Promoting opportunity through social mobility: You have run a social mobility programme and can prove your organisation has benefited from it financially. The programme needs to be something which specifically reaches out and supports people from disadvantaged backgrounds, so as to inspire and guide the best talent into their organisation and beyond. To be eligible, the programme must have been running for more than two years: however, it can’t be the core purpose of your business.
- Sustainable development: You should have achieved outstanding sustainable development for at least three years. You must also have evidence of the benefits or positive outcomes of your actions or interventions. If the sustainability relates to a single product/service, you must demonstrate that your company is also sustainable. Finally, your sustainable development should align with at least one of the United Nations (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
